Purpose

Notes

“Before” and “after” require a specific date or date & time. “Before” warns if the certificate's validity starts after the named date & time. “After” warns if the certificate's validity starts before the specified date or date & time.

A datetime is a specific calendar date and, optionally, a time in 12-hour or 24-hour time. Many formats are accepted but it's recommended to spell out all the digits of the year: 21-november-2023, 21 nov 2023 3:12pm, and 21 nov 2023 15:12:35 are all accepted.

A timespan is an expression of a length of time without a specific date. "4 days 2 hours 3 minutes" indicates a timespan of 4 days, 2 hours, and 3 minutes. Only the units with non-zero values need to be listed. A timespan unit is any combination of seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, and years. The trailing 's' on each timespan unit is optional. Weeks are defined as the given number of weeks × 7 days. Years are defined as the given number of years × 365 days.

Not within requirement requires a timespan.
